Our Internal Waste
At Butler Brothers, making cutting dies means working with wood, rubber, steel, paper, and plastic—each die passes through CAD design, laser cutting, rubbering, bending, assembly, and packaging. Every step creates waste: laser-cutting leaves wood scraps, rubbering trims unused edges, and bending steel rule produces offcuts. Even packaging materials like plastic wrap, tape, and cardboard add to the stream. While waste is part of manufacturing, we believe it’s our duty to manage it better—not just by reducing it, but by giving it new purpose. This belief has fueled sustainability projects that are already reshaping how we handle materials in our shop.
Our Sustainable Plans
We don’t see waste as trash but as potential. We’re building smarter systems to reuse, repurpose, and recycle what once got tossed. Through partnerships like Refreshed Memories, we turn scrap wood, rubber, plastic, steel rule, and paper into meaningful products. Internally, we’re improving how we sort, store, and track materials to boost efficiency and cut waste at the source. We’re even exploring ways to fully recycle or convert cutting die materials into energy. These efforts aren’t just good for the planet—they strengthen our business, culture, and the future of our industry. At Butler Brothers, sustainability isn’t a side project—it’s becoming who we are.
Why bother?
